Technical Coordinator, Montgomery Waters, Churchstoke

Full Time | Monday–Friday | 39 hours per week
Full UK Driving Licence Required (multi-site role)

 

Montgomery Waters is a leading independent manufacturer of bottled Mineral, Spring, and Flavoured Waters. Operating across rural Wales and Shropshire, we employ over 100 staff across two sites. We are now seeking a Technical Coordinator to support our bottling operations at Churchstoke, with occasional work across other site.

 

Job Purpose

The Technical Coordinator supports the Technical, Quality, and Hygiene functions by assisting with daily operations, documentation, audits, and continuous improvement activities. The role helps maintain compliance with food safety, quality standards, and customer requirements. The postholder will also provide cover for QA Technicians and the Water Resource Controller when required.

 

Main Duties

  • Support continuous improvement activities by gathering data, assisting projects, and driving action completion.

  • Coordinate internal and system audits, review findings, and support NCR closure.

  • Assist with GAP analyses on the quality manual and customer codes of practice.

  • Create, update, and maintain technical policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Provide training support and day-to-day assistance to QA, production, and management teams.

  • Support the hygiene team with coordination, record-keeping, and standards compliance.

  • Monitor internal non-conformances and assist with investigations and corrective actions.

  • Support customer complaint investigations and follow-up actions.

  • Compile technical information for new and existing product specifications.

  • Maintain raw material specifications, supplier documentation, and supplier risk assessments.

  • Support customer audits and BRCGS compliance activities, including documents and action tracking.

  • Assist with closing non-conformances from external audits and update records.

  • Support traceability systems, mock recalls, and documentation accuracy.

  • Maintain technical documents and specifications on customer portals.

  • Assist with QMS maintenance, document control, and system updates.

  • Support KPI reporting, performance monitoring, and data trending.

  • Review laboratory results and support follow-up for out-of-spec products.

 

Additional Duties

  • Provide support to the Technical Manager during absence, including routine technical tasks and communication.

  • Adhere to all Company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

  • Support supervision of water sources, including weekend availability when required.

  • Carry out additional tasks as requested by management.

  • Maintain a tidy and organised working area.

  • Follow all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

 

Desirable Skills & Attributes

  • Knowledge of bottled water production, filtration, bottling, and packaging processes.

  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, ISO standards, and basic microbiology.

  • Strong coordination skills for supporting line efficiency, trials, and technical projects.

  • Effective at liaising with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Confident communicator across production, QA, engineering, and supplier functions.

  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP).

  • Organised, proactive, safety-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.
