Robotic and Control Systems Engineer, Globalpak, Newtown

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Robotic and Control Systems Engineer to design, develop, implement, and install robotic and control systems for Packaging automation projects. The ideal candidate will work on cutting-edge technology, playing a pivotal role in the integration of robotics and control solutions working with small team based in Newtown Powys.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Design and Development

·        Design and develop robotic and automation systems for packaging and industrial applications.

·        Develop control algorithms for robotic systems, PLC programming, and sensor integration.

·        Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to create end-to-end automation solutions.

2. Installation and Commissioning

·        Oversee the installation and commissioning of robotic systems at customer sites.

·        Ensure proper compliance, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment.

3. Maintenance and Support

·        Provide technical support for existing robotic and control systems.

·        Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.

·        Regularly maintain and upgrade systems to optimize performance.

4. Documentation and Compliance

·        Create detailed technical documentation, including user manuals, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.

·        Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications

Education:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

·        Proven experience in designing and implementing ABB robotic and control systems (2–5 years preferred).

·        Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI design, and robotic systems integration.

 

Technical Skills:

·        Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.

·        Familiarity with industrial PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).

·        Knowledge of robotic platforms (e.g., ABB, FANUC, KUKA, or Universal Robots).

·        Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).

·        CAD software proficiency for layout and design (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

Soft Skills:

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·        Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

·        Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Master’s degree in Robotics or a related field.

·        Knowledge of AI/ML in robotics for adaptive control systems.

·        Experience with vision systems and machine learning integration.

·        Certification in robotics or control systems engineering.
