Job Title: Trainee Sales Engineer
Location: Newtown, Mid Wales/ On the road
Industry: Industrial Automation / Control Systems / HVAC/ Pumping

About the Company:

The Motor Control Warehouse was created in 2006 by three variable speed drives engineers. The company specializes in motor speed control, supplying inverters, motors, gearboxes, DC drives, soft starters, sensors, enclosure accessories and associated products. Based amongst the rolling hills of central Wales we pride ourselves on service and support.

We are currently seeking a motivated Trainee Sales Engineer to support our external sales and technical teams, playing a vital role in customer engagement, quoting, and technical support from our Mid Wales office.

Role Overview:

As a Sales Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for inbound sales enquiries, providing technical advice and commercial support to customers. Working closely with engineering and the rest of our sales department, you’ll help translate customer requirements into effective solutions and ensure prompt, professional service.

This role offers a mixture of both internal and external sales, initially office based and supported by our experienced team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email, and web, providing technical guidance and product recommendations.

  • Prepare and follow up on quotations, proposals, and sales documentation.

  • Collaborate with external sales engineers and project teams to support the full sales cycle.

  • Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and customer interactions.

  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to create tailored solutions.

  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain product information and pricing.

  • Provide after-sales support and maintain strong customer relationships.

  • Assist with internal coordination of orders, deliveries, and documentation.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • Confident using MS Office

  • Team player with a customer-focused approach and attention to detail.

  • Strong work ethic, and self motivated

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Technical qualification in engineering or Business studies

  • Previous experience in technical sales, internal sales, or customer support

  • Understanding of automation products and systems (drives, motors, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, sensors, etc.).
