Despatch Team Leader, Radnor Hills, Knighton
About the Role
Radnor is seeking a Despatch Team Leader to oversee the daily running of the Despatch department, ensuring efficient loading and unloading of HGVs, accurate stock picking, stock rotation, stock checks and transport planning. You will lead a team of FLT and Shunter Drivers, fostering a positive, productive working environment and ensuring all activities meet company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily despatch activities, ensuring stock is picked accurately and on time.
Maintain hygiene standards and ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
Check pallet quality for both inbound and outbound loads.
Monitor order accuracy and ensure all documentation (including batch codes and load images) is completed correctly.
Manage FLT and Shunter Drivers, including return‑to‑work interviews, probation reviews and support with investigations.
Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
Manage staffing levels, cover for absence and plan daily labour.
Prepare detailed handovers for Lead FLT Drivers, including expected loads and Goods‑In updates.
Build relationships with carriers and ensure hauliers adhere to booking slots.
Manage export documentation, container loading, seals and commercial invoice information.
Organise and label Palletways consignments (next day, economy, next‑gen).
Assess returns and liaise with QA to complete documentation.
Complete regular stock checks, ensuring rotation and accuracy.
Monitor shortages and work with logistics to resolve issues.
Conduct daily yard, equipment and racking checks.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and environmental regulations.
Attend company meetings and support additional tasks during downtime.
Essential Qualifications
Full, current driving licence.
FLT licence.
NVQ Level 3 in Supervision (or similar).
Desirable: HGV licence, Racking Inspector qualification.
Essential Experience
Experience in a manufacturing/logistics/transport environment.
Supervisory or management experience.
Desirable: Experience with HGVs or moving heavy vehicles.
