Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, Luvata, Welshpool

With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team and support the performance and reliability of our manufacturing operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to play a key role in supporting a fast-paced manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance, improving equipment reliability, and helping to ensure production runs safely and efficiently. You will also contribute to continuous improvement activity and support the development of colleagues and apprentices within the maintenance team.

Responsible to: Maintenance Manager

Job Purpose: To support the efficient and safe operation of the factory by carrying out reactive, preventative, and continuous improvement maintenance activities across plant and equipment. The role is responsible for minimising downtime, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring machinery operates to the required performance, quality, and safety standards. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in maintaining production continuity, responding effectively to breakdowns, and contributing to the overall operational performance of the site.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Ensure all planned maintenance work is completed when due, in line with the company maintenance schedule.

2.      Carry out fault-finding on electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.

3.      Prioritise work effectively to respond quickly to machinery breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out the repairs necessary to return the plant to operation as quickly as possible.

4.      Source specialist components, fixtures, and fittings in a timely manner and within budgetary constraints, ensuring best value.

5.      Support the Maintenance Manager in creating and updating maintenance procedures.

6.      Ensure maintenance records are accurate and up to date.

7.      Comply with health and safety legislation and report any non-compliance identified during the course of duties.

8.      Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented approach, with a genuine desire to make a real difference to the performance and success of the manufacturing plant.

9.      Support the training and development of colleagues and apprentices by sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practice, and contributing to a positive learning environment within the maintenance team.

10.  Take ownership of machine refurbishment, overhaul, and improvement projects, supporting the enhancement of equipment performance, reliability, and long-term plant capability.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Skills and Experience

·        Time served Apprentice with HNC/D in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualifications-NVQ)

·        Level 3 Electrical Installation Certificate

·        Multi-skilled engineering experience

·        Previous experience working in a manufacturing and/or Automotive environment

·        Able to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment

·        Good understanding of PLCs and drives

·        Comfortable working as sole engineer on shift

·        Ability to problem solve and make decisions

Desirable Skills and Experience

·        Experience working in a metal cold forming or CNC manufacturing environments

·        Experience repairing and overhauling hydraulic pressing equipment

·        Experience fault finding and servicing CNC machining equipment

·        Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes
