Clayton Engineering Limited specialise in the design and manufacture of launch and recovery equipment for lifeboats. As part of the RNLI, we support them to save lives at sea by manufacturing high quality equipment and sustaining its life in service. Our vehicles are often featured on the BBC TV Program 'Saving Lives at Sea’ and can be seen at many of the RNLI Boathouses across the country. The company has a site based in Knighton in Mid Wales on the Powys / Shropshire / Herefordshire border. Easily commutable from Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Leominster or Hereford. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to provide leadership to the engineering team on site. And to provide timely and professional technical expertise, engineering documentation and solutions to support internal departments and the customer.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Overall accountable for the Design Authority for designed and manufactured products and equipment.
Accountable for the design and engineering processes and all technical documentation from concept through to Production and products in service.
Accountable to ensure engineering changes are completed, authorised and released in accordance with company and QMS procedures.
Effective daily management of the engineering team to ensure the provision of required level of services in a pro-active and professional manner to enable other departments to fulfil their role.
Lead, motivate and communicate with team members to ensure they are fully motivated to achieve the best performance to meet the company’s needs.
Responsible for the management and resourcing of the In-Service Support help desk for all CEL products, including budget, re-forecasting and invoice approvals for all labour, parts and expenses.
Creation and supply of documentation to control and capture the configuration of products including concessions and Illustrated Parts Manuals.
Responsible for investigation, analysis, root cause and countermeasure for oil sampling activities.
Responsible for introduction, management and maintenance of appropriate engineering software tools, including CAD and Vault systems.
The ideal candidate would have solid management and leadership experience, Health and Safety knowledge and expertise, and be adept in Continuous Improvement and problem-solving using tools such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, 5Y's. Someone who is good relationship builder with internal and external customers, an excellent communicator with the ability to lead and motivate teams and work cross functionally.
