Apprentice IT Support Engineer, 5C Services, Newbridge-on-Wye

Job Summary

 Looking to start your IT career? We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, focused and ambitious individual who has a passion for IT.

This role is suited to someone with foundational IT training (gained through formal education or self-study) who is eager to further develop their skills and knowledge in a professional setting.

As a trainee engineer you will gain a vast amount of experience in all aspects of general technical support. Learn to troubleshoot issues, install business solutions and resolve support queries – all whist gaining experience with an extensive range of products and providers.

You will be part of a team of engineers who are passionate about IT. The team share an array of skills and experiences and are ready to support you in your career. Many of our highly skilled engineers began with us as trainees themselves.

You must have a desire to learn, be a good team player and have a strong focus on high quality standards.

Please note:

·        This position will be based in our new office in Newbridge-on-Wye.

·        We are not accepting applications via recruitment agencies for this role.

Responsibilities

·        Troubleshooting and diagnosing IT hardware and software faults.

·        Installing, supporting and maintaining new hardware and software.

·        Managing own workload - monitor incidents to resolution in line with our processes and best practices.

·        Ensuring customer calls are managed efficiently and are dealt with professionally.

·        Ensuring that (if required) calls are escalated and communicated accurately and within the appropriate time frame.

·        Working closely with other departments and third parties.

·        Research, Testing and evaluating new technology.

·        Ensuring all IT equipment complies with industry standards.

·        Assisting and supporting implementation of new applications. 

Requirements and skills

Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, adaptable, and reliable team players who embrace challenges with a positive attitude and integrity. You should also be able to demonstrate:

·        Knowledge of MS Office and MS Windows 10-11

·        Good knowledge of IT hardware/software trends and products and excellent PC skills.

·        Network knowledge preferable

·        Excellent verbal and written communication.

·        Ability and willingness to share knowledge across the team to aid learning and proficiency.

·        Effectively manage own time and workloads.

·        Ability to maintain professional manner under pressure.

·        Capable of being highly responsive were required and have a strong sense of urgency and a commitment to follow through.

·        Ability to build and maintain effective and productive working relationships with both colleagues, clients and third parties.

·        Flexibility and willingness to work outside normal office hours.

·        Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.

·        A current full driving licence would be desirable as our engineers are required to travel to customer sites.

·        Willingness to increase your knowledge base of IT through home-studying/Higher Education courses.
