Company History: Nomadic Washrooms was founded in 2019 when husband-and-wife team, Stuart and Kate Richards, spotted a gap in the market for stylish, high-end portable washrooms to complement tipi weddings and outdoor events. Starting with a single Shepherds Hut toilet for their own wedding, the idea quickly grew into a thriving business.
In 2020, a contract with the BBC’s The Repair Shop helped the company navigate the challenges of COVID-19, while reinvesting profits allowed the fleet to expand. By 2022, Kate and Stuart were both working full time in the business, and demand for their unique huts had grown nationwide.
Since then, Nomadic Washrooms has transformed into the UK’s leading provider of luxury Shepherds Hut washrooms, with over 15 units, a strong franchise network, and a dedicated manufacturing division. Today, the company delivers facilities to hundreds of weddings, festivals, and high-profile events each year — including Glastonbury Festival and private celebrations for celebrities, business leaders, and even members of the Royal Family.
