MWMG REVIEW OF 2024!

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to highlight all the work we have been doing to support local industries in 2024! As always, it is a pleasure to be able to support businesses in Powys and Ceredigion, meeting so many amazing people along the way.

Some important statistics include:

  • 101 courses organised for 908 attendees!

  • £50k in bespoke SPF Training Grants issued to companies

  • Events attended by over 400 people including HR briefing, Bank of England, PBA

  • Over 80 jobs advertised, reaching over 60k on social media and 4k+ on our website

January - March

  • Launched our ‘Membership Monday’ feature, highlighting one member each week on social media

  • Exhibited at ‘Careers Fest 24’ at Aberystwyth University, promoting opportunities for students and #ChooseYourFuture event also in Aberystwyth with Careers Wales

  • Exhibited and Co-organised Job & Apprenticeship Fairs at Newtown (pictured), Welshpool and Brecon

  • Promoting Mid Wales as a place to live and work including launching a feature about ‘Peter Webber: A Mid Wales Migration Success Story’

  • Hosted a HR briefing along with Harrisons Solicitors at Interior Products Group, Welshpool which also included a presentation by the Game Change Project

  • Launched Free & Bespoke Training Grants of up to £2500 to all businesses in Powys

April - June

  • Attended an event at NPTC Group, Newtown College, organised by REECO, highlighting collaboration between education and industry with the use of robots

  • Attended the official opening of the Business Support Centre, run by Antur Business, in Newtown.

  • Exhibited at a Job & Apprenticeship Fair at Llandrindod Wells

  • Organised a ‘sell-out’ Bank of England Update Briefing at Hope Church, Newtown alongside WR Partners. Stephen Hicks delivered an exclusive update from the Bank of England (pictured).

  • Exhibited at the Newtown Business Expo at the Elephant and Castle, taking part in ‘Speed Networking’

  • Welcomed two new MWMG directors, Michael Miles and Dr Julie Jones.

  • Launched the 2024 Powys Business Awards at Radnor Hills which included a tour of their operation

July - September

  • Participated at Panel Discussion Royal Welsh Show, for the launch of the RSP Employment and Skills Plan update. Guest at the UK Government reception with Secretary of State for Wales Rt. Hon. Jo Stevens MP

  • Successfully held an insightful webinar on energy procurement in the industry featuring Energy Bubble, renowned specialists in energy procurement.

  • Showcased STEM Activities at Rali Ceredigion’s #RaliEngage Event in Aberystwyth

  • Attended the launch of the Powys ADAPTS programme at NPTC Group Newtown College

  • Organised a very successful talk & tour of Charlie’s Warehouse in Welshpool (pictured)

October - December

  • Organised another incredibly successful Powys Business Awards at Derring Lines, Brecon. Over 250 people attended the evening, with over 30 businesses nominated for an award. Beacon Foods took the Overall Powys Business of the Year Award - more details here (pictured)

  • Supported the development workshop of the Advanced Manufacturing Centre for Mid Wales on behalf of Grow Mid Wales in Newtown

  • Attended the Newtown Fashion Academy at Pryce Jones Building, run by NPTC students
