Welsh engineering company transfers to Employee Ownership

Based in Talgarth, Powys, for the past 28 years, JTS Ltd is an independent specialist engineering company, with a reputation as a leading manufacturer of environmental test chambers. Working within a range of industries across the UK and Ireland, the small team designs and builds test solutions that simulate environments such as extremes of heat, cold and humidity. Currently much of their work is involved in electric vehicle development.

JTS Ltd is the only environmental chamber manufacturer in Wales, and one of very few remaining in the UK. With owners Glen and Sue James looking to step back, solutions were sought to enable the business to continue and evolve.

The proposal to transfer the Company to an Employee Ownership Trust was met with unanimous approval. With the support of Employee Ownership Wales, the move will enable the continued employment of a skilled and committed team.

New Managing Director, David Hunter, is looking forward to implementing plans for further developing the business, including offering apprenticeships, for the benefit of all employees.

He said “This is a fantastic opportunity for the skilled and loyal staff to have an investment in their future, the future of the business and build on the outstanding success of the first 28 years at JTS. I look forward to working with the team here who have all fully embraced the EOT process and all of us taking the business to the next stage of development. The support at Cwmpas has been invaluable to everyone involved in this process and they have helped and guided us all through to the final completion. I would recommend all companies to look at this option as there are no negatives and only positives for all concerned.”

If you have a test chamber project that JTS can help with or if you would like to discuss the EOT transition, then please give call 01874 711209 and speak  with David Hunter (david.hunter@jts-test-chambers.co.uk) or Gillian Byrne (gillian.byrne@jts-test-chambers.co.uk)
