Company History: Makefast Ltd was founded in 1974 by Bill and Brenda Brown, beginning as a small marine engineering business on the South Coast of England. The company first built its reputation through innovative safety hardware for the marine sector, including stainless steel rings, turnovers, buckles and components used by sailmakers and lifejacket manufacturers. In 1989, Makefast relocated to Newtown, Mid Wales, where it has continued to grow into one of the region’s leading manufacturing businesses.
Today, Makefast is an internationally recognised manufacturer supplying the marine, safety, military and tactical markets. Its products range from safety components and canopy hardware to precision-engineered systems for luxury yachts and superyachts, including sunroofs, awnings, carbon poles and bespoke marine solutions. With over 50 years of engineering experience, Makefast remains committed to quality, innovation, apprenticeships and manufacturing in Mid Wales with a premises in the USA, France and Italy.
