Company History: Cleobury PM Ltd was founded in December 2022 by Dr Alina Warren-Walker and Dr Mandy Lloyd. Based on a rural farm in Powys, with a second food-grade site in Aberystwyth, Cleobury is a Welsh innovation company specialising in converting liquid materials into stable, easy-to-use powders through spray drying, microencapsulation and formulation.

We combine scientific expertise with practical commercial delivery to transform under-used agricultural and food-system liquids into stable, functional powders. We support customers all through development process, from assessing difficult or variable materials through formulation and feasibility studies, all the way to pilot validation, process transfer and commercial up-scaling.

Cleobury has developed a portfolio of innovate processes working alongside farms, food manufacturers, commercial partners and universities, . Our scalable commercial model is based on feasibility studies, product co-development, technical support, technology transfer and licensing.

Products: Cleobury develops technologies and services that transform underused agricultural and food-system liquids into valuable, stable powders that are easier to store, transport and use.

Its two principal technology platforms are:

AgriRecover™ – transforming high-liquid agricultural materials, including slurry, anaerobic digestate and other nutrient-rich farm waste streams like effluent, into stable fertilisers.

ReNutrify™ – converting food-manufacturing by-products into stable nutritional or functional ingredients for use in foods, beverages, supplements, animal feed and pet nutrition.

We use spray drying to turn liquids into powders and microencapsulation to help protect valuable nutrients or functional compounds.

Cleobury also provides:

Material and waste-stream assessment
Feasibility studies and lab trials
Spray-drying and microencapsulation development
Formulation and carrier selection
Pilot-process optimisation
Analytical and application-specific validation
Product co-development
Grant and innovation-project development
Technical support

Markets: The company primarily operates across Wales and the wider UK while developing international partnerships and licensing opportunities.

Farmers, landowners and anaerobic-digestion operators
Fertiliser manufacturers and agri-tech businesses
Food and beverage manufacturers
Nutraceutical and supplement manufacturers
Animal-feed and pet-food companies
Companies looking to valorise food or agricultural by-products
Universities and research organisations
Innovation partners

General Facilities: Cleobury operates through two complementary Welsh facilities.

The Heyope (Cleobury Farm) facility supports agricultural and non-food processing, waste handling, spray drying, microencapsulation, and the practical evaluation of farm-derived materials, as well as administration/grant writing.

The Aberystwyth facility provides a food-grade research and development hub for formulation, lab-scale processing, spray drying, microencapsulation and nutritional-ingredient development.

Available capabilities include:

Two spray dryers
Dehydration facilities
General lab equipment - scales, rotary evaporators, blenders, pH metre
Food-grade formulation and development space
Non food grade site for agricultural processing and formulation
Access to specialist analytical, research and commercial facilities through delivery partners

Food-grade development is kept separate from agricultural and non-food processing.

Standards: Cleobury applies documented methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), formulation records, risk-management processes and internal technical controls throughout its work.

Lab testing, food-grade development, and commercial processing are undertaken in accordance with regulatory, quality, safety and site-specific requirements. Specialist analysis is commissioned from accredited commercial laboratories where required.

The company protects its technical know-how through confidentiality agreements, NDAs, contracts, controlled documentation and selective disclosure. Formal intellectual-property protection is used where commercially appropriate.

Main Area of Operations: Research, development and commercialisation of technologies that transform agricultural and food-system liquids into stable, higher-value powders. Our work spans agriculture, food and drink, functional ingredients, animal nutrition, sustainable manufacturing and the circular economy.
