This short course encourages you to look across your organisation, at your place within it and the value you create. It aims to help improve the performance of your organisation and the candidate by gaining a better understanding of commercial awareness and Identify how costs are incurred in your organisation and how these can be controlled. Explain how waste can increase costs and reduce value, identifying options for reducing waste and improving efficiency

    • Recognise that everyone in the organisation has a responsibility for creating its future

    • Explain common commercial terminology

    • Financial control in business

    • Describe what being ‘commercially aware’ involves

    • Identify how value is created in your work and organisation

    • Identify how the external environment impacts your organisation

    • Explore the importance of strategy and the commercial environment

    • Identify how costs are incurred in your organisation and how these can be controlled

    • Explain how waste can increase costs and reduce value, identifying options for reducing waste and improving efficiency
