1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work course
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate first-aid equipment, facilities and people so employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work.
Course Description
This course is ideal for individuals who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in First Aid. For regulatory purposes, successfully completing an EFAW course will enable the student to act as a first-aider in the workplace.
Duration
A 6-hour course consisting of theory and practical work.
What We Cover
A range of subjects are covered including:-
Assessing Emergency situation, responsibilities recording/reporting
Dealing with an unconscious casualty
Resuscitation (CPR)
Choking
Seizures
Control of bleeding
Shock
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
NB. Some small workplaces may only need the minimum provision. But, there are factors that might mean you need greater provision. If you would like to take part in the more in depth 3 day FAAW course please get in contact for course dates.
Certification
Although there is no formal assessment, the trainer will assess each individual ongoing throughout the course. This qualification is valid for 3 years. Other courses and locations available on request including ½ day annual refreshers, 3 Day First Aid at Work (FAAW) for First Aiders in high risk areas and 2 Day Re Qualification course for renewal of existing FAAW certificates please contact us for more details.
