Audits improve companies insurance cover

Two companies have improved their insurance cover thanks to audits undertaken by MWMG’s commercial partner Rees Astley.

Classic motorcycle restorers SRM Engineering in Aberystwyth was able to secure a more comprehensive insurance policy, which included specialist product liability cover of up to £5 million. This cover was unavailable through it’s previous broker.

It was a similar story at leading UK resistors technology company Electrohm Ltd in Ystradgynlais, where an audit identified a potential risk in the company’s existing insurance policy, which contained a product efficacy exclusion clause.

Rees Astley, an insurance broker and independent financial services specialist with offices in Newtown, Aberystwyth, Oswestry and Pontesbury, found a policy that removed the clause and provided better value for money cover.

One of the advantages of joining MWMG is that members have access to special terms that have been negotiated with commercial partners. Rees Astley offers a free insurance review for MWMG members, which checks the level of cover and clauses.

Employing 11 staff, SRM Engineering has been in the business of classic bike design, renovation and innovation since 1980. The company specialises in restoring post war classic BSA, Norton and Triumph twin cylinder motorcycles from Unit 22 on Glanyrafon Industrial Estate, Aberystwyth.

The company, which has customers worldwide, offers full engineering workshop services, engine and gearbox reconditioning for BSA, Triumph and Norton twin cylinder models, rebores and cylinder head work for most makes and models.

Electrohm Ltd, a specialised power resistor manufacturer at Woodlands Business Park in Ystradgynlais, offers electrical power control solutions to a wide range of industries, including leading motor inverter manufacturers, with export activity mainly focused on cathodic protection.

Established in 1988 as a privately owned firm in response to a gap in the sector, the company has customers in Europe, USA, Middle East and Asia.

“We moved our cover to Rees Astley because for the same kind of premium there was no efficacy exclusion clause and added extras, namely business interruption cover and nook debts,” said Gail Poolis from Electrohm Ltd.

“Nigel Kennedy from Rees Astley was extremely helpful and made the switch completely seamless. I am now confident in the knowledge that we have more adequate insurance in place which better serves our business needs.”
