This qualification is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public. The Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the workplace meets the needs for training and will provide employees with an appreciation of the fundamentals of good health and safety practice. Every employer must ensure that staff must not undertake manual handling without a proper risk assessment and appropriate training. The level 2 award in principles of Manual Handling provides employees with the knowledge and practical skills to apply safe lifting techniques. Under the management of Health & Safety at Work Regulation (1999) there is a duty on every employer and self-employed person to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to health and safety. This qualification is designed for anyone with the responsibility to conduct risk assessments. It is particularly useful for managers and supervisors, but it will be equally beneficial to individual workers, team leaders, technicians or any other personnel contributing to the risk assessment process. This Level 3 qualification is designed for those who are, or intend to be, supervisors of food handlers within the catering and hospitality industry. Holders will gain a broad knowledge of food safety and food hygiene, enabling them to identify problem areas and recommend solutions. The qualification is firmly based on the level 3 National Occupational Standards developed by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality industry and is an ideal progression from the Level 2 Award in Food Safety.

This qualification covers all aspects of the First Aid requirement for the first aider in the workplace and is carried out by an approved trainer. EFAW training enables a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. Upon succesful completion of this qualification an Emergency First Aid at work certificate will be awarded that is valid for three years.
